Godspell at the Gavilan College Theatre May 1, 2009

What: Gavilan College is proud to have Collen Chipman from The South Valley Civic Theatre direct our production of Godspell. She brings with her an impressive background in the arts, as well as an amazing collaborative team which includes James Chipman, Vocal Director; Mitzi Imagawa, Choreographer; and Chris Eves as our rehearsal pianist.
We are excited to be able to share Stephen Schwartz’s musical with a new generation of audience members. Based on the Scriptures of Saint Matthew, it is a lively re-telling of the parables, married to the passion of Christ at the end of the play. Our adaptation has eschewed the traditional “clown” motif for the costumes, modernizing the look of Godspell, and using the color purple as our motif to establish the “tribe” of followers.
