The development of instructional technologies for distance learning in low- and high-bandwidth contexts has created opportunities to bridge geographical divides in design education and conferencing.
How are design scholars using technology to facilitate interaction with global communities?
How are design scholars in the United States and abroad using and innovating distance learning technologies?
How are they integrating global interaction in their curricula and what are the challenges they face? What are some of the intellectual and creative outcomes of their efforts?
GLIDE '08 will address these thought-provoking questions among others and bring together, virtually, an international mix of design educators to share first-rate experiences teaching and conducting collaborative research globally. GLIDE '08 will highlight current trends in design collaborations between design scholars, graduate students and communities in first, second, third and fourth world regions around the world including the United States, Europe, China, Japan, Korea, India, Africa, the Caribbean and the Middle East.
