Take the Gingerbread House Workshop with Walter Howald, Master Baker
Chef Walter started his culinary and baking career In Bern, Switzerland, where he completed a 3 year apprenticeship program. He is the former owner and executive chef of four prestigious bakeries including Le Croissant Bakery in Sunnyvale, CA. He was the head decorator at Blum’s in San Francisco from 1960-1965. He has taken his baking skills around the globe, carrying out volunteer assignments for ACSI/VOCA and IESC since 1989. In 1992, he was awarded the David Rockefeller Spirit of Service award for best project of the year. His specialties include chocolate sculptures, incredible cake decorating and GingerBreadHouses.
In this class we will make gingerbread dough, decorate a gingerbread house (made ahead of time by Chef Walter), and learn the technique to put a house together, make the piping icing, and go home with a completely decorated house, blue prints to make one at home plus gingerbread dough.
