A talk by Michael Lind on the subject of 'Giants in the Earth: China, India, the US and the future of world politics.' Lind?s work has influenced much of the economic and strategic thinking that has dominated US politics over the past decade.
The rise of China and India is transforming the global economy. By 2050, China is likely to have the largest economy in the world, followed by the US and India. How will the United States respond to the economic and strategic challenges posed by the rise of these two Asian superpowers? The American century shows no sign of ending, argues Lind. But he warns that, as the United States responds to the strategic demands of multipolar diplomacy, its economic strength could be undermined by excessive military mobilization ? and the US could go the way of the Soviet Union.
