Proctor's is committed to bringing the finest music from around the world to the Capital Region. The Gewandhaus (Ge-VANT-house) orchestra of Leipzig, Germany, named after the concert hall in which it performs, the Gewandhaus ("Cloth House"), has been in existence since the early 18th century and has been conducted by such musical giants as Felix Mendelssohn, Bruno Walter, Kurt Masur and, now, Riccardo Chailly. One of the most recorded orchestra's in the world, it is a rare treat to host the Gewandhaus in our region. The program will include the Schumann Symphony No. 1 and the Mahler Symphony No. 5.
