Please visit Good Mews during the month of October for our Black-Cat-A-Thon! Black cats can be loving and sweet pets if given the chance. In fact, did you know that black cats are considered lucky in Britain, Japan and Australia among other places? Unfortunately, black cats in the U.S. are often passed over by potential adopters and never given the opportunity to prove how much love they can bring. Sometimes superstition prevents families from adopting black cats. Other times they just aren’t noticed. Whatever the reason, often times black cats stay at the shelter for many months, or even years, longer than their more colorful friends. Please help us change the luck of a black cat at Good Mews by giving her a new and loving home. It will be your lucky day too. We will have a reduced adoption fee of $113 and a gift bag for all black cats who are adopted during the month of October. Please take advantage of our 2 for the price of one which we are offering on all cats through the end of the year. Visit www.goodmews.org to view pictures and learn more about some of our black cats. We also have black kittens who may not be listed on the web site.

The shelter, located at 736 Johnson Ferry Rd. Suite A-3, Marietta, will be open for adoptions between the hours of 10 am and 4 pm every Saturday, the first and third Sunday of the month between the hours of 1 pm and 4 pm and by appointment.

Good Mews Animal Foundation is a local nonprofit organization which operates a volunteer based, no-kill shelter for homeless, abused and abandoned cats. The shelter provides a cage-free environment for its residents, offering them comfort and security while assertive adoption programs find them happy, loving homes. We have a strong commitment to the practice of spaying and neutering as the most important step in reducing the pet overpopulation problem. We also promote public awareness regarding the value of pets, animal welfare and quality human-animal companionship through educational and outreach programs.
