The Goethe-Insititut Los Angeles presents the 6th annual "German Currents Film Festival," featuring five new films from Germany.
German Currents Film Festival: New Films from Germany is equally pleased to call the historic Egyptian Theatre, which celebrates its 90th birthday this year, its exclusive 2012 venue.
This year’s line-up features a wide array of genres:
Combat Girls, the gritty social drama which explores the world of impressionable German youth turned Neo-Nazi;
Home for the Weekend, the gripping psychological drama centered around a deep struggle within an extended Family;
Cracks in the Shell, the story of a passionate actress whose dedication to her art drives her both to self-destruction and self-revelation;
Summer Window, a half-German half-Finnish account of a surreal and unusual love story, where a shift backward in time provides one woman hindsight and a second chance;
and This Ain’t California, a ground-breaking Documentary about the fringe skateboarding culture in the socialist GDR.
This sixth edition of German Currents is presented in cooperation with Deutsche Welle, German World Magazine, and with the help of numerous partners and generous supporters.
