Michelin Bib Gourmand award winner, Picán, located in Uptown Oakland’s cultural district, is celebrating summertime with a peach-perfect menu during the restaurant’s first-annual “Georgia Peach Week,” July 25-30. This specially-crafted, a la carte menu -- which can be paired with recommended wines or bourbons -- highlights peaches and the Southern ingredients that help make Picán’s cuisine a local favorite. While the peaches used at Picán are from local farmers, the feel of the menu is distinctly Southern in such dishes as:
Chilled Peach Buttermilk Soup
tapioca, curry oil and jalapeno
Peach Honey Glazed Quail & White Corn Hoecakes
smoked homemade farmer’s cheese and jalapeno peach jelly
Pastrami Cured Duck “Rueben” Sliders
on rye biscuit with pickled peaches, shaved cabbage,
“Big John’s” cajun cheddar and peach mustard
Skillet Blackened Tuna with Peach & Jicama “Pico De Gallo”
wild arugula and basil creme fraiche
Barbecued Pork Tenderloin with Corn & Smoked Cheddar Grits
cilantro/peach slaw and peach bourbon bbq sauce
Peach Fried Pie with Ginger Beer Ice Cream
sorghum peach butterscotch
