George Winston is known for interpreting pieces on solo piano by his most beloved composers. The inspiration for this happened in 1965 when, at the age of 16, he saw Charles Schulz's 'A Charlie Brown Christmas' featuring Vince Guaraldi's timeless soundtrack. In addition to Vince Guaraldi, other influences on Winston include Professor Longhair, the Doors, Frank Zappa, Randy Newman and Sam Cooke. Outside of his piano compositions and performances, he is also an accomplished blues harmonica and slack-key guitar player.
