George William Kelly: Santa Christina and Her Sled Dogs December 23, 2010

Author George William Kelly will be reading from his new children's picture book, 'Santa Christina and Her Sled Dogs.' The story introduces the wife of Santa Claus, Santa Christina, and her adventures as a female musher as she helps Santa deliver toys to little boys and girls; explores geography (including a trip to New York City, a visit to the Thanksgiving parade, and Central Park) and holiday traditions; and celebrates the sled dog hero Balto (a Siberian Husky who, in 1925, led his team through a blizzard to deliver antitoxin to combat the outbreak of diphtheria to the people of Nome, Alaska). The event also features special red Siberian husky Snow Dog appearances from the Siberian Husky Club of Greater NY Inc. and a Santa Christina photo opportunity.
