George Duke is a jazz pianist who played with everyone from Cannonball Adderley to Frank Zappa before finding success as a smooth jazz keyboardist and session producer. Growing up in Northern California, George Duke developed a fondness for jazz after seeing a concert by The Duke Ellington Orchestra. He decided right then and there that he wanted a piano, and by age seven, he was already hard at work studying the masters. Considered a pioneer of '70s jazz-fusion, Duke takes aim at the great American songbook, and at what he calls "eloquently stated melodies that will stand the test of time", with his latest release In A Mellow Tone. Joining Duke on stage for his return to Yoshi's will be Mike Manson on bass, Jeff Lee Johnson on guitar and Ronald Bruner on drums.
