This Spring San Antonio BEST will sponsor a robotics program aimed at elementary and middle school students. The program GEAR" stands for Getting Excited About Robotics.
Each GEAR team must provide its own Lego Mindstorms Kit. Like BEST, the competition is free and a lot of fun! Teams have 5 weeks (including Spring Break) to come up with an autonomous robot to play the GEAR game in a head-to-head competition against other teams. Details about the game are kept secret until kick-off. All teams are required to attend Kick-Off.

Team sign up is available via the registration link on this page and will be on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration deadline is Feb 7, 2009. We anticipate limiting the team count to 48 teams.

SA BEST's (Boosting Engineering, Science, and Technology) GEAR competition is a contest held annually to inspire and interest students in the fields of science and engineering. With guidance from adult mentors, local teams of students design and build a robot to accomplish specific tasks.
