Madrid
Madrid, Madrid

June has arrived at last and with it many great things come to mind: the summer, the hot temperatures, the holidays we are waiting for and one of the Spanish festivals with the largest number of followers in the country – the Gay Pride Festival, where thousands of gays, lesbians, bisexuals, transgender and their friends join together to celebrate and fight for equality.

Madrid, as the Spanish capital, hosts one of the main pride celebrations in the country. In recent editions of the Gay Pride Day gathered hundreds of thousands of people in the capital. In fact, the celebrations of the Gay Pride in Chueca (the most famous gay neighbourhood in Spain) can only be compared in terms of attendance with other Spanish events such as San Fermin or the Fallas in Valencia. Last year about 1.100.000 attended the Gay Parade!

This year’s Pride Week will be held in Madrid between June 27th and July 5th, and the Gay Parade on July 4th. It will begin at 17:00 in the Independence Square and it will move around the Calle Alcalá, the Plaza Cibeles and La Gran Via and it will finish in Plaza España. Once there, some concerts and shows will be put on.
