Gambit on Spreadbetting

16 September 2008

Spreadbetting surprisingly is in fact regulated by the Financial Services Authority, under Financial Services Act of 1986, which means that it is considered as a 'financial product', and naturally, most of their natural audience has been City traders.

In the past years, we have seen niches being developed from sports spreadbetting to political to binary bets, what are the key differences? Where is the growth verticals, does UK regulations for cross boarder worldwide markets make sense?

Where is the real growth potential for the spreadbettig market? would it be emerging markets like Asia or would it be 'dumbed' down products for the joe public?

Or is it really we are mostly 'educated' and 'sophisticated' consumers now which means that it is free for all?

To answer these questions and more, as usual, Gambit will be having the best panel the industry has to offer both locally and internationally.

Speakers:

* Richard Lawes, Financial Services Authority (FSA), Head of Risk mitigation (financial promotions team) [confirmed]
* Felix Riley, ChoiceOdds (MF Global), Founder, CEO [confirmed]
