Gallery Opening October 7, 2005

Coral Gables, FL. Six months in? and Miami Art Lab has already cemented itself as the hottest gallery in Miami-Dade County. Miami artists, collectors, hipsters, and gallery browsers may find themselves in unfamiliar territory. Behind the typical storefront door at 3117 Ponce De Leon Boulevard, some big concepts are under development.

The Lab?s next exhibition, From Below Water, features two artists from New Orleans. Harouni & Rowan, who were greatly affected by Hurricane Katrina, have assembled an amazing body of work for the exhibition, which will open on October 7, 2005 at 7:00pm. Harouni?s depictions of humanity will be explored in his oil paintings of the human form. Rowan, an abstract painter, will feature his astonishing landscapes.

As its name indicates, Miami Art Lab stocks the elemental, but is also a setting for the experimental. Initially conceived by owner Erik Lopez simply as ?a place to enjoy great art in a relaxed environment,? Miami Art Lab is part gallery, part lounge, part retail space?all with a contemporary spin that?s distinctive among the Lab?s Gables neighbors. With a diverse roster of new and established, highbrow and lowbrow, hometown and international artists, Miami Art Lab has already become host to some highly sought-after wall space.
