Gallery ChimMaya is pleased to present five very talented men in their June exhibit, Men’s Collective Exhibition: Jose Ramirez, Ramon Ramirez, Robert Palacios, Antonio Pelayo, and Gilbert Reyes.
Jose Ramirez is an artist and teacher, whose work has taken him to New York, San Francisco, Washington DC, Mexico, and Japan. Through his paintings he documents contemporary Latino life in Los Angeles by addressing socio-political conditions which affect the population.
Ramon Ramirez creates artwork that parallels his personal and political development in that his paintings reflect his identity as a Chicano.
Robert Palacios’ work is marked by vivid hues and engaging characters who are put in humorous situations which people can relate to. His paintings are visual narratives of daily life, but with a comical twist.
Antonio Pelayo is a self-taught artist who considers himself as the ultimate outside observer. He draws what he sees and only truly feels at home in the world that he creates within his art.
Gilbert Reyes blends his Tex-Mex heritage with an explosion of color that draws the viewer into a world of varied emotions. His art reflects the beauty that is in Latino culture through scenes of dance, laughter, joy, and sorrow.
This show will run at Gallery ChimMaya from June 3rd to June 24th. The artist’s reception will be held on Sunday, June 3rd from 2:00 – 6:00 pm.
