This exhibition is the follow-up to Galleon Trade I, which brought twelve California artists' work to galleries in the Philippines last summer. In Galleon Trade: Bay Area Now 5 Edition, the purpose is to continue to address the "deeply transnational ties between the Bay Area and the Philippines.... taking the historic Acapulco-Manila galleon route as a metaphor of origin." This exhibition will feature five local artists who traveled to Manila last year, and work of theirs that is in conversation with the work of five artists from Manila. The idea is to "create new routes of cultural exchange along old routes of commerce and trade."
