Gadhey Ki Barat - Comedy Play. Designed & Directed by Mohammed Waseem. 'Gadhey Ki Barat' is a satire on current political & socioeconomic state of our society. The mental makeup of the poor and the weak who spend their entire life trying to fulfill simple biological needs like food, shelter etc. The Play has many rib-tickling moments, When kallu a poor potter encounters Lord Indra & other deities in heaven. The appearance of Chitrasen a'Gandherva' who has been cursed by Lord Indra to lead a life of donkey on earth. How kallu finds the donkey in his courtyard & looks after his welfare. The king in the meanwhile declares that whoever builds a bridge overnight from the royal palace to the poor peoples village would be Princess Satyawati's bridegroom. Chitrasen needs to marry the Princess for the curse to end. He promises kallu the potter a life of luxury and convince the king that the bridge could be made in one night. The Play ends on a realistic note with kallu being kicked out of the royal palace after Chitrasen is free of the curse, proving the point that it is impossible a task to bridge the gap between the rich & the poor. Thus depicting accurately the intricacies of politics, exploitation of the poor & the weak. However this musical comedy conveys the above message tastefully with various shades of humour.
