Bay Area Classical Harmonies (B.A.C.H.) presents the rarely performed Brockes Passion by G.F. Handel to celebrate the weekend of Palm Sunday.
Barthold Heinrich Brockes published a German oratorio libretto on the setting of the passion story. This work was one of the first passion oratorios, a free, poetic meditation on the passion story without the use of an evangelist character. Many baroque composers have written a passion oratorio based on this setting but the most famous setting is by G.F. Handel.
BACH founder/director Andrew J. Chung will lead a baroque BACH Ensemble with singers and musicians comprised of the Bay Area's most talented up and coming musicians, along with professionals well known to local audiences.
The concert will be free for children 12.
