Frederick Wiseman is the famed Boston-based documentarian whose 1967 film "Titicut Follies" was BANNED (see www.zipporah.com). An advocate of visual literacy, Wiseman believes that "the sound and picture of a movie can and should be read as carefully as the choice of words in a novel, poem or play." At this event, Wiseman will illustrate how each shot in a film, and the order of shots, impacts our sense of "truth." And rather than talking AT us, he'll be recreating his editing process using clips from a selection of his 35 full-length films, including Welfare (1975), Basic Training (1971), Law and Order (1969) and Belfast, Maine (1999). KQED Forum's Michael Krasny will then join him on stage for a Forum-style chat including Q & A.
