“It takes all the running you can do, to keep in the same place. If you want to get somewhere else, you must run at least twice as fast as that.” – Lewis Carroll’s Red Queen in Through the Looking Glass
Accomplishing the mission at a nonprofit organization takes money. Some need more, some less, but they all need ENOUGH. And if you haven’t got enough money yet, you’ll either have to run twice as fast, or learn some new roads to your destination. This boot camp will give you tools for maximizing every revenue stream you have, and give you ideas for a few more, to ensure the sustainability of the nonprofit you support.
Key Strategies
Reframe your goal: If your goal is to raise funds, you’d better be focused on raising friends. Not just casual friends, but lifelong donor-type friends. Even shy people can do this.
Maximizing use of your volunteers: The economy has put some very talented people out of work. If you’re not helping them keep their skills sharp by volunteering for your organization in non-traditional ways, you’re missing a gold mine in expense reduction.
Grantwriting tips for success: Grants don’t bring in the majority of your revenue, but they are a source worth courting, and a really good grant proposal brings all sorts of other benefits.
