Fifth annual educational Native American Pow Wow cosponsored by the W. Kerr Scott Dam and Reservoir. Lots of demonstratorsand regular pow wow activities. Childrens activities at the Laura Pavilion with Ranger Juanita Souther and our people. Make a rain stick, Gods Eye, dream catcher, leather bag, or just read the posters and learn something. Tee Pee demonstration just yards away. Take part in the dancing or watch things being made at the pow wow area. Or just enjoy the beautiful setting. Last year there were eagles flying around and one actually caught a fish.
Directions: From Wilkesboro, take US421 north six miles to Milepost 293. At the Ft. Hamby State Park sign, turn south on South Recreation Road and go one mile to the Park entrance at 1534 South Recreation Road, Wilkesboro NC 28697.
Hours: the park opens at 8 AM and the pow wow is open 9 to 6 on Friday and Saturday.
Admission: The Park charges an entrance fee of $1 per person or $4 per car. The pow Wow is $5 Adults and $2 Kids. Friday is Kids Day and Kids are FREE with the schools.
