Friday 30 May 1:00 – 3:30 pm, SFU Vancouver, 515 West Hastings, Vancouver, Room 2270 Sauder Industries Policy Room; a ‘brown bag’ introduction to frontier environments and borders.
This is an introduction to ‘frontier environments and borders’, with expression of interest and brief descriptions of current research by participants, who include but are not limited to people named below. Graduate students doing or considering research on environment and development are particularly invited, plus people interested in other parts of the world. People from business, government and NGOs with (or without) experience on frontiers are equally welcome. In mainland Southeast Asia frontier environments have long and complex histories, and are a rich field for research and theory while being at the same time important geo-political markers among the powerful and not-so-powerful. (Refreshments will be served).
