Ambassador Peter W. Galbraith, Senior Diplomatic Fellow, Center for Arms Control and Non-Proliferation
A leading authority on Iraq, Ambassador Peter Galbraith joins the Council for a discussion on the unintended consequences of the war in Iraq and what the next US administration should do in the Middle East. Having worked on Iraq for more than 25 years, he is responsible for uncovering and documenting the start of Saddam Hussein’s genocide against the Kurds and was with Kurdish rebels during their 1991 uprising. Since 2003, Galbraith has made more than twenty trips to Iraq, and is the architect of the partition plan that is considered the main alternative to President Bush’s Iraq strategy.
