Event Description: In 2007, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration will celebrate the 200th anniversary of the Coast Survey originally charged by Thomas Jefferson to provide a complete and accurate chart of every part of the coasts of the United States. As part of this celebration, the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service and NOAA are pleased to offer you a special poster exhibit: From Sea to Shining Sea: 200 Years of Americas Coast Survey. This 20-poster set explores the Coast Surveys history, accomplishments, and scientific contributions. Richly illustrated with photos, charts, and artwork held in the Surveys archives, these colorful posters will provide a foundation for programs and exhibits about your organizations resources and associations with boating, shipping, and maritime history.
