From Business to Buttons focuses on how to create positive effects for the business and for society when designing Information Technology. The conference organizers expect 350 attendees. IT managers, Marketing managers, Usability professionals and Product managers are the main target groups.
IT projects are initiated as means to create some positive effect for the business or for society. But many times the use of IT causes problems and frustration. One of the most prominent problems today is that cost/benefit analysis, business cases and other visionary descriptions of the future IT-product are used to make the decision for investing, but is not used for guiding the software design. Even for an ever so clever project leader or software designer, it is hard to proof that design is based on business needs. Even worse is that design features are never documented as a means for ensuring expected business values, which means that it is not possible to validate the product design from a business perspective. In other words, software design leaves the business perspective behind in the sense that there is no structured connection.
From Business to Buttons offers insights and methods of how to bridge the gap between the business goals and the product in use. The conference focuses on the practical work and useful tools involved in a project.
