This benefit is for Morgan Huke who has been battling various health issues, including Binswagner's disease. Morgan has been around the music industry for many, many, years working in the background as a concert producer and media promotion. He is known to many regional and national rock stars because of his involvement in music going back to the days of the Boston Tea Party night club, where he did lighting in the late 1960s. He knew many of the young musicians then who later would rise to the top of the music industry. Huke served as production coordinator for the Metropolitan District Commission sponsored Hatch Shell and Sunset Series on the Boston Common in the 1970s. In 1973 Morgan Huke founded the Cityfest and Cityacts programs. For more than 10 years he ran indoor and outdoor performances providing entertainment and performing arts for the residents of Cape Ann. Morgan Huke's efforts were noted by Gloucester Mayor Carolyn Kirk last November when he received a citation from the mayor for his patronage of the Gloucester music community and his countless hours spent organizing the Harbor Loop concerts. "Our community is better off today because of you and your significant contribution to the rich music history of the city of Gloucester and Cape Ann," Mayor Kirk said in reading the special citation.
