Don’t miss your opportunity to meet Peter Max, the artist whose work defined the Summer of Love, this Friday night at the de Young. The Museum’s special exhibition, Peter Max and the Summer of Love, celebrates the 40th Anniversary of the Summer of Love. Showcasing 50 works by Max with his characteristic psychedelic imagery and bright color palette, the exhibition will be on view from August 31 until October 28. Max will be at the Museum on Friday, August 31, for the opening of the exhibition. The artist will unveil two new posters at the de Young that commemorate the 40th Anniversary. Both posters will be available in the Museum Store. As part of the Friday night program on August 31, Max will deliver a lecture and present a film at 7 pm in the Koret Auditorium, followed by a book signing. DJ’s will play ‘60s music in Wilsey Court, and the Joan Getez Quartet will perform live music in the Café. The entire museum and store stay open until 8:45 pm.
