Friday Night Jamboree April 2, 2010

The Floyd Country Store, home of the world-famous Friday Night Jamboree, is a historic country store celebrating traditional Appalachian music and heritage. Friday Night Jamborees begin at 6:30 pm with an hour of gospel music. At 7:30 pm the first of the Old-Time and Bluegrass bands begin playing, and the flatfoot and clogging dancers rush to fill the hardwood dance floor in front of the stage. The music lasts until at least 10:30 pm, often going later in summer months. People young and old come from several counties and from around the world to dance and hear the music. No alcoholic beverages are served, and no smoking is allowed. This is truly a fun place to be on a Friday night in Virginia.
