An Evening with Tim Reid and Richard Roundtree and Once Upon a Time…When We Were Colored
Tim Reid, accompanied by his guest star Richard Roundtree, will appear to discuss, give insight, and Q&A about Mr. Reid’s film directorial debut. Many know Mr. Roundtree as SHAFT (1970) but his résumé is filled with awesome roles including the first season of Desperate Housewives.
Once Upon a Time…When We Were Colored (1996) PG 115 min
Directed by Tim Reid
Starring Al Freeman, Jr., Phylicia Rashad, Leon, Richard Roundtree, Taj Mahal, Polly Bergen
This is an unforgettable saga of an American family poignantly narrated by Cliff, a boy growing up in an African American community in segregated south of the 1940’s and 50’s. It celebrates the resilience of relatives, neighbors and friends as they face life in an era of discrimination and racism with strength, courage, and warmth that make the movie an uplifting experience for all audiences.
We proudly present this event in tribute to the ongoing observance of Black History as well as the Reid’s foundation, Legacy Media Institute, a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing together leading professionals in the film and television industry, outstanding actors, and young men and women who wish to pursue a career in the entertainment media.
A ticketed dessert reception to raise funds for the Institute will follow the film presentation in Best Café. Tickets to the dessert reception are $30 and are available online at legacymediainstitute.org.
