Holiday Inn (Universal Pictures, 1942) | Not rated | 101 minutes
Starring Bing Crosby, Fred Astaire, Marjorie Reynolds
Directed by Mark Sandrich
Need we say more than singing by Bing Crosby, dancing by Fred Astaire, and songs by Irving Berlin? This was one of Hollywood’s perfect storms of talent. It's an unforgettable grab bag of Berlin's hit songs including “Easter Parade" and the debut of the one and only "White Christmas.” A popular song-and-dance act (Crosby and Astaire) parts ways. One heads to his fabulous home Connecticut that becomes a luxury night club open only on holidays. The other dances his way though show biz. Their lives cross paths again in rivalry as they are smitten by the same girl. Sheer fun for the season.
