The Red Room at Cafe 939 and James Joseph Salon present Fresh Prospects, a showcase of the up-and-coming Berklee artists reworking their favorite songs into intimate acoustic performances. This month’s artists are Sharin Toribio and Mario Jose. They will hit the stage at 7 p.m. for a spectacular night of talent and music.
Sharin Toribio, a Tampa, Florida native, is all about singing pop music and adding her own latin flavor. She composes and performs her own original music, as well as beautiful renditions of tunes by John Mayer and Natasha Bedingfield. Not even cancer could keep her from accomplishing her musical dreams - at the age of 20, she was diagnosed with Lymphoma. After several harsh months of intensive therapy, she beat the cancer and continues to make music to honor the miracle of her life. Through her music, she touches audiences with her optimism and genuine nature.
Mario Jose hails from the San Francisco Bay area, and there is no doubt about it, this boy was born to entertain. This skilled vocalist sings a wide range of light-hearted pop to jazz standards. He currently performs with “Pitch Slapped,” Berklee’s acclaimed A Cappella group. He has had the honor of performing in some of Berklee’s biggest productions, sharing the stage with music legends such as Philip Bailey and Paula Cole.
Tickets for this show are free.
