Fresh Ink
Artist Reception: Friday, June 12 from 6-9pm
Exhibit through July 3
Fresh Ink features 3 diverse and accomplished Pacific NW artists creating & exploring the medium of ink: Darin Shuler, John Osgood & Bobbi Jo Epperson.
Shuler received a 2007 Artist Trust GAP award and is a 2008 Artist Trust Edge Graduate. He has shown his work at Center on Contemporary Art Gallery, SOIL Gallery and the Richard Hugo House. “Shuler’s work is a tornado of bewitching, dream-world imagery that staggers a fairy tale line between gruesome and playful. Think Ren & Stimpy wreaking havoc on Seussville”.
John Osgood is also a 2008 Artist Trust Edge Graduate and was recently selected by the Arts Council of Snohomish County for their 2009 commissioned poster for the Fresh Paint Festival. While Osgood mainly works in acrylic & spray paint, his first love is pen & ink illustrating. His work is reminiscent of a drug-induced hallucination which he fits oddly into neat packaged squares. The more the viewer stares at his work, the more they are apt to see. Osgood has shown his work at Artifakt and Suite 100 Gallery (now Halogen Gallery), as well as, other venues around Seattle.
Bobbi Jo Epperson is the 2008 recipient of the Apple Award for the Arts and has shown her work in Oregon galleries such as the Mark Woolley Gallery in Portland and West Gallery at OSU. Included in this exhibition is work from Epperson’s “Seed” series which is a representation of memories, stories, and experiences from her youth – a spontaneous collage, much like the memories themselves.
All three artists “fresh ink” feature whimsical dream-like characters with a playful spirit.
