Freedom Summer with Marco Williams January 12, 2007

The Charles Guggenheim Center for the Documentary Film at the National Archives welcomes award-winning filmmaker Marco Williams (Two Towns of Jasper, In Search of Our Fathers), who will present his 2005 documentary, Freedom Summer (44 minutes). The film examines the murder of three students who were sent to Mississippi in the summer of 1964 to register black voters. The crime and its aftermath became a watershed event in the civil rights movement. Nina Gilden Seavey, director of the Documentary Center at George Washington University, will introduce the program and moderate a post-screening discussion with Williams.

Film is free and open to the public. Seating is first come, first served. Please enter through the Special Events Entrance on the corner of 7th and Constitution Ave., NW.
