Freedom Seeker Independence Hall Wheeling February 2, 2009

February 2, 2008 from 10 AM to noon, John Mattox, curator or the Underground Railroad Museum in Flushing, Ohio, will present a program at West Virginia Independence Hall. Mr. Mattox will exhibit Freedom Seekers, a traveling trunk display of artifacts from the era. The traveling trunk is like a mini-museum containing a variety of hands-on objects.
The Underground Railroad Museum is located in Flushing, Ohio. The museum features an extensive collection of publications, books, memorabilia and other articles. The exhibits portray what is known about slavery and the Underground Railroad in Ohio and features an understanding of the culture in the 1800's.
