"America's Privateer" the Lynx and California's state tall ship, the Californian will be offering free dockside tours for the the public in Redondo Beach Marina.
Immediately following the dockside tours, join Capt. Jake Jacobson of the Privateer Lynx for a public battle sails that will set out to sea on a three hour tour. These interactive sailing adventures and battle re-enactments include hoisting the sails, steering the ship, firing the main battery of 6-pounder carronades. The Californian and Lynx will not be returning to Redondo for another five years so don't miss this wonderful opportunity to sail on a living history museum! The Privateer Lynx was hired to train the cast and crew of the hit movie Pirates of the Caribbean and operates under the auspices of the Lynx Educational Foundation. The 122-foot square topsail schooner Lynx is an interpretation of a privateer or naval schooner from the War of 1812. The Californian is a replica of the 1847 Revenue Cutter and carries 7,000 square feet of canvas, measures 145 feet in length, weighs 130 tons and is armed with four six-pounder deck guns.
