SUMMER’S HERE AND THE TIME IS RIGHT…
GET SCREENED
With more than 1 million skin cancers diagnosed annually, skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the United States. One in five Americans and one in three Caucasians will develop it in the course of a lifetime. In fact, one blistering sunburn in childhood more than doubles your chances of developing melanoma, the most serious form of skin cancer. Exposure to tanning beds before age 35 increases melanoma risk by 75%, and even occasional use of tanning beds can almost triple the chances of developing melanoma. The good news is that with early detection, the survival rate for patients is about 99%.
On Saturday, May 15, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Memorial Hermann will offer free skin cancer screenings. Appointments are required. Space is limited, so call 713.222.CARE today to schedule.
