In 1988, Kuo Pao Kun devised and directed a groundbreaking multilingual play, Mama Looking for Her Cat (Mama), which incorporated several languages and dialects. The ensemble piece consisted of a diverse cast led by Ko Kim Hong, a Chinese theatre veteran. More than just a multilingual script, Mama is a celebration of Singapore's linguistic pluralism.

Join us for the screening of Mama Looking for Her Cat and a post-screening dialogue session with the cast of Mama.

Cast members participating in the discussion include Kuo Jian Hong, artistic director of The Theatre Practice; Goh Guat Kian, veteran actress and founding member of the Practice Theatre Ensemble (formed in 1986) and multi-faceted theatre practitioner Verena Tay. The dialogue session will be conducted in both English and Mandarin.

The screening is free with exhibition admission of S$5. Limited seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis. To register, email Nur_Ain@nhb.gov.sg with your contact details.
