Join the concert band and jazz ensemble at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College, on their upcoming world tour—no passport required!

“World Tour 2010: A Musical Journey Across Six Continents” takes place in the McGarvey Commons of the Reed Union Building at 8 p.m. on Monday, April 26. Admission is free and open to the public.

Concert band selections will include Percy Grainger’s “Australian Up-Country Tune,” the Finale from Igor Stravinsky’s Firebird Suite, “Mambo Furioso” by Brant Karrick, and “Summon the Spirits” featuring percussion played in the Japanese Taiko style.

Joe Zawinul’s “Birdland,” Chuck Mangione’s “Bellavia,” “Grazing in the Grass” by South African musician Hugh Masekela, and Channel One Suite, which was made famous by percussionist Buddy Rich, will be performed by the jazz ensemble.

Both groups perform under the direction of Dr. Gary Viebranz, director of musical ensembles at the college.
