Italian singer-songwriter Vinicio Capossela has made a name for himself as an eclectic artist in recent years. He made his debut in 1990 and since then he has recorded 10 albums and written two books.
Vinicio Capossela’s music is ironic and sentimental, recalling the blues of Tom Waits, Paolo Conte’s “chanson”, and influences from the Balkans and Southern Italy. His concerts are known for offering up performances that evoke the theater of Bertolt Brecht, surrealism, and circus pantomimes.
On March 11 at 6:30 pm, Vinicio Capossela will appear at the Italian Cultural Institute in conversation with musicologist Luciano Chessa to discuss his innovative and eclectic style, and his views on art and music.
