The five ensembles of the Penn State Behrend Choirs and the Young People’s Chorus of Erie will give a free joint performance on Saturday, April 9.
The concert takes place at 7 p.m. in the McGarvey Commons of Penn State Behrend’s Reed Union Building. Admission is open to the public.
Performing individually and together will be Penn State Behrend’s Concert Choir and Chamber Singers and YPC’s Cantare, Concert Chorus and Young Men’s Chorus. “This is the first time that the two choral programs that share residency at Penn State Behrend have performed a full concert together,” Dr. Jason Bishop, director of the Penn State Behrend choirs and YPC artistic director, noted. “Both choirs will preview programs from their upcoming tours.”
In late May, Penn State Behrend’s choirs will make a performance tour of Ohio, Michigan, and Illinois. The next month, the weeklong “YPC Crosses the Commonwealth” tour will stop in six Pennsylvania cities and Washington, D.C.
The Young People’s Chorus of Erie is an outreach program of Penn State Behrend’s School of Humanities and Social Sciences. It is the first affiliate choir of the famed Young People’s Chorus of New York City.
