Giving a
Report and Update from the Middle East

Part of the "Other Voices" televisions series.

Joel Beinin, one of the country's leading experts on the Middle East and a frequent guest on "Other Voices", has spent the past year in Egypt, where he served as Director of the Middle East Studies Program at the American University in Cairo. As we welcome Joel back to the area, we’ll talk to him about his experiences living and teaching in Egypt, as well as getting an update on his particular area of expertise: the Israel-Palestine conflict. We’ll explore the current status of the "peace process", Israel’s increasing tensions with Iran and Syria, and the internal political turmoil in Israel.

Joel Beinin has served as President of the Middle East Studies Association of North America and as a contributing editor to Middle East Report (a highly recommended resource). Among the many books he has written or co-authored are _Intifada: The Palestinian Uprising_ (1989), _Workers and Peasants in the Modern Middle East_ (2001), and _The Struggle for Sovereignty: Palestine And Israel_ (2006).
