In celebration of Jazz Appreciation Month, the National Portrait Gallery presents a film screening of “Paris Blues” (1961). Directed by Martin Ritt (“Hombre,” “Sounder,” “Norma Rae”), with an Oscar-nominated score by Duke Ellington, “Paris Blues” was filmed on location in Paris. The film stars Paul Newman, Sidney Poitier, Diahann Carroll and Joanne Woodward.
The program is free and open to the public; no tickets are required. Doors open at 6:30; seating is first come, first served. The program takes place in the museum's Nan Tucker McEvoy Auditorium.
