Make art at Oceanside Museum of Art during our Free Family Art Day May 2 from 1:00-4:00 p.m. Children and their parents work closely in the creative process designing small works of art that reflect concepts and themes from the exhibitions on view. On May 2 children can make a mixed media collage with magazines, colored papers and found objects inspired by Allison Renshaw’s Plastic Fantastic exhibition. Plastic Fantastic is a vibrant mixed media painting exhibit with imagery that references fashion, beach culture and architecture. The artist Allison Renshaw begins each large scale painting with a collage as the foundation to her abstract compositions. Renshaw will lead a docent tour specifically for kids through her exhibition at 2:00 p.m. Healthy refreshments will be provided. Guests can also visit four additional exhibitions on view at the museum: Painting The Iraq and Afghanistan Wars-A Camp Pendleton Youth Art Exhibit, Honor: Marine Portraits by Stathis Orphanos, Painting World War II: The California Watercolor Style Artists, and The Things They Carried: World War II Trench Art.
