On May 4th the Toonseum will be celebrating Free Comic Book Day. Free Comic Book Day gives the Toonseum a chance to distribute thousands of free comic books to fans across the Pittsburgh region.
“Free Comic Book Day is a nationwide event giving the gift of comics to both comic book enthusiasts as well as introducing the medium to new audiences”. Said Toonseum Marketing Director Mandi Bridgeman. The Toonseum will also host a costume contest with awesome prizes, winners will be announced each hour.

Children and adults can visit the ToonSeum between 10am-5pm to recieve a free comic book. Free Comic Book Day will then be followed by a special “adult only” Dr. Sketchy After Party with models dressed as beautiful comic book heroines and their villainous counterparts.
Dr. Sketchy combines life drawing with lighting-fast challenges with special themes for each event. You don’t have to be an artist to enjoy the fun, come doodle, get creative and enjoy complimentary cocktails.

This Dr. Sketchy After Party marks the fifth year anniversary of the Dr. Sketchy’s Anti-Art School at the Toonseum. Originally, Dr. Sketchy began in New York in 2005.

ToonSeum Executive Director Joe Wos began Dr. Sketchy “… to help nurture the art community in a way that would bring together both amateur and professional artists in an entertaining and engaging life drawing experience outside of the classroom”.

Dr. Sketchy admission is $9.00 for general admission $5.00 for members
