Community Hospital Anderson offers free clinical breast exams once a month for women in Madison County. Jeanne Kirk, R.N., breast health specialist, will perform the next exams on Friday, April 11, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Women’s Center.
Clinical breast exams are different than mammograms, and should be done every three years in women ages 20-39, and every year for women over 40. All women over the age of 20 should perform self-breast exams monthly. Women over the age of 40 should have a screening mammogram done once a year.
If abnormality is detected, the patient will be referred to her physician. The women without a physician will be referred to health care providers who are accepting new patients.
Register by calling 298-5139. Upcoming dates for free clinical breast exams include May 9, June 13, July 11, Aug. 8, Sept. 12, Oct. 10, Nov. 14 and Dec. 12. For a complete list of classes and services offered at Community Hospital Anderson, please visit CommunityAnderson.com.
