"Chris Morris is still the most incendiary figure working in the British entertainment industry." —The Guardian UK
BAMcinématek is pleased to present a one-night-only special sneak preview screening of Chris Morris’ uproarious farcical jihadist satire. Four Lions tracks the antics of a band of wannabe Jihadists in a tranquil English suburb as they haphazardly attempt to plot a bomb attack. Morris spent three years researching the film, speaking with terrorism experts, imams, and former Guantánamo Bay detainees. The subject matter is indeed sobering but made “seriously… [and] scary funny” (Los Angeles Times) by undercutting the potential gravity of the proceedings with the bumbling and decidedly human way in which the group of homegrown would-be terrorists ass-backwardly struggle to reconcile their assimilated lives with their righteous ideals and abstract dreams of glory.
