SARAH CHAYES | TUESDAY SEPTEMBER 19
Former Foreign Correspondent, National Public Radio; Author, The Punishment of Virtue
Afghanistan's nation-building efforts are in reverse gear, Chayes contends. A National Public Radio reporter who covered the Taliban's last stand after 9/11, Chayes left reporting in 2002 to help rebuild Afghanistan, running a nonprofit founded by President Hamid Karzai's brother. She will bring home the sobering realities of misguided U.S. policies and detail Afghanistan's spiraling descent into corruption and a Taliban revival.
