Dr. Sarat Maharaj presents Dynamic Creativity: Remaking Art and "non-Art?
An exploration of the dynamics of creative practices, collaborations and redefinitions of practice within an increasingly global dialogue and exchange about art practices.
South African born, Dr. Sarat Maharaj is an internationally renowned art and culture theorist. He has written extensively on visual art as knowledge production, textile art, cultural translation, difference and diversity. He is currently Professor of Visual Art and Knowledge Systems at Lund University in Sweden. His recent research investigates consciousness, convergence of art practices and science in the form of a series of international Knowledge Labs. His past positions have included Professor of History and Theory of Art, Goldsmiths College, University of London, Rudolf Arnheim Professor at Humboldt University, Berlin, and Research Fellow at the Jan Van Eyck Akademie, Maastricht. He has curated international exhibitions including Optical.Retinal.Visual.Conceptual at the Museum Boijmanns van Beuningen in Rotterdam in 2001, and was a co-curator of Dokumenta XI in Kassel in 2002.
