Flypoet Under The Stars - 10yr. Anniversary Blowout July 2, 2011

Ten years ago the Flypoet Showcase started its monthly mission to rock Los Angeles to its cultural core by presenting the world’s most sought after spoken word artists, adding the hottest signed and unsigned musical acts and topping it all off with unparalleled performance art. To celebrate the last ten amazing years as one of the world's premier on-going spoken word events, Flypoet is bringing its legendary showcase to the Ford Amphitheatre for “Flypoet under the Stars: Ten Year Anniversary Blowout.”
This special anniversary event will showcase a who’s who of the international spoken word scene including Taalam Acey, whose fans include Stevie Wonder; HBO Def Poets Steve Connell and Sekou Andrews who have performed for President Obama and Oprah; and Thea Monyee, whose “Woman to Woman” is a You Tube hit, to name just four. The poets inspire Norton Wisdom who artistically interprets their words on a huge backlit canvas as they speak. Highly polished musical acts including Grammy- nominated recording artist Lalah Hathaway will complement the world class spoken word as well.
The Ford Theatre is a beautiful, state of the art, 1,200 seat outdoor venue. Attendees are invited to a pre-show picnic in the Ford’s terraced entryway where they can enjoy live music, art exhibits and more. Patrons may bring their own food and beverages (yes, alcoholic beverages are OK) or take advantage of concessions on site.
